About
I’ve been a Realtor since 2003, a Property Manager since 2010 and the owner and managing broker of Mountain Town Properties since 2011. In this relatively short time, I have already experienced the ups and downs of the real estate market, but it’s obvious that we are living in different times right now. Despite today’s tough market, I believe that everyone deserves to own their own home and to take great vacations to nice places.
My career in real estate began at Panorama Mountain Resort, an Intrawest owned and operated resort at Invermere in the BC Rockies. My employer, Playground Real Estate, was the sales and marketing division for Intrawest’s resort developments. I attended Playground’s professional sales training retreats and through that experience I achieved recognition for high performance sales.
Most of my experience during this time with Playground was in resort recreational real estate with a focus on new construction, pre-sales and selling off-plan.
In 2005 Playground Real Estate was contracted to pre-sell a 254 unit condominium located east of Seattle, in a historic mining town called Roslyn Washington. This pre-sale project lasted 6 months. We were a team of 6 sales people, we lived as a team too and night-skied a ton at Alpental that season - I had the experience of my life!
Playground Real Estate soon after, dissolved and many of the higher management spun off to start the Canadian franchise of Sotheby’s International Realty Canada. I was contacted to join Sotheby’s at RED Mountain Resort. Our team was assembled to complete the pre-sell Slalom Creek, Morning Star, The Mountain Project and Caldera.
In 2008/09, when the global economic downturn occurred, I settled in Rossland and worked at Lifestyle Properties, a local real estate brokerage. Lifestyle Properties was owned by local Dean Bulfone. Together with his brother, Dean developed 10 home sites and offered the building contractor (Dean's brother) to build the homes. Unfortunately the market downturn stalled the completion of this neighbourhood for the Bulfone's.
At the downturn of this time, is when the real need and requests for rental property management services emerged. I studied and achieved my Property Management License and began providing vacation rentals and long term rentals management services.
In 2011, I formed incorporated Mountain Town Properties Ltd. as a vacation rentals company registered with Consumer Protection BC. I invested in licensing, posted a bond, obtained liability insurance, sourced and hired housekeepers, professional IT support, an assistant property manager, a bookkeeper, and so on.
In response to demand from property owners seeking alternative service options; in particular an equitable system of marketing vacation rental properties as individuals, plus a more transparent accounting software to manage their vacation rental homes we carefully selected our software systems to offer these functions.
One major hurdle was still needed at this time and that was, to obtain credentials and licensing to manage a brokerage. Every brokerage needs 1 Managing Broker to legally operate a brokerage and its related licensees in BC. In 2012, I succeeded in this achievement and thus Mountain Town Properties Ltd. became a fully licensed real estate brokerage for Trading and Property Management in 2012.
My success is met through delivering state of the art technology and software systems, and to employ the best people available for service to our guests and clients. Our business has grown by leaps and bounds; all based on performance and referrals!
The basics of combining property management with real estate sales ring true with the words “nobody knows your property like your Property Manager”. Each discipline is unique, but the combination of the two has been very effective for our business contacts.
In my personal time, while being a mom of 1 boy, I also enjoy golfing, skiing and camping my family. I love working in my yard! My goals are to be differentiated by being innovative, technology driven, creative and productive.
From my previous life, I hold a diploma in Horticulture, Turf Management from Olds College and I’ve worked and lived in some of BC’s most beautiful golf and ski resorts. I helped build and grow-in Sun Peaks Resort Golf Course, Sun Rivers Golf Resort Kamloops and I even literally built the driving range at Grey Wolf Golf Course at Panorama Mountain Resort.
Regarding my career in Speed Skiing career in the '90's check out this video LOL.
After skiing for only a year, I participated in the Velocity Challenge: Speed Skiing race and took home the trophy for Most 'Spectacular Speed Skiing Crash': The place – Sun Peaks, British Columbia; the event – Velocity Challenge; the year – 1999; the skier – Jodie Ouimet at her personal best top speed of 137 kilometres per hour.
